Khadeeja Abdul-Jabbar MA

Instructor

Khadeeja Abdul-Jabbar was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the age of five, she began studying classical piano at Settlement Music School, following in the footsteps of her mother, who is also a classical pianist.

At eighteen, Khadeeja moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Clark Atlanta University, where she double-majored in Education and Spanish, earning a B.A. in both fields. Upon graduation, she began teaching high school Spanish. After two years in the classroom, she continued her studies at Middlebury Language Schools in Madrid, Spain, where she earned an M.A. in Spanish Linguistics.

Khadeeja returned to Atlanta in 2007 and continued teaching high school Spanish until 2009. In 2010, inspired by a desire to spend more time with her daughter, integrate her extensive musical training into her work, and explore alternative approaches to education, she founded Educate Me Homeschooling Services. As owner and lead educator, she designed and taught a comprehensive curriculum for students in pre-K through eighth grade, offering instruction in core academic subjects, Spanish, music theory, piano, and guitar for families seeking an alternative to traditional schooling.

In July 2020, Khadeeja completed the Waldorf Education Program at the Rudolf Steiner Centre Toronto, marking a new chapter in her educational journey. She joined the Waldorf School of Atlanta as DEIJ Coordinator, where she continues to support faculty development and cultivate inclusive practices within the school community.

In the fall of 2023, she became the class teacher for a sixth-grade cohort at the Waldorf School of Atlanta, whom she is guiding through their middle school years toward graduation in May 2026.

Khadeeja has developed a particular passion for innovative and developmentally grounded approaches to teaching social studies, and she brings this work into both her classroom and

teacher education settings.
